Silver Park Arts Literary Lounge Event in the Zoom Room

Chad Sweeney is the author of six books of poetry, including Million Little Doors (2019),and two books of translation. He is an associate professor at CSU San Bernardino, where he edits Ghost Town Lit Rag.

Mary Torregrossa is a storyteller, ESL teacher, and author of the chapbook My Zocolo Heart (Finishing Line Press). Her work appears in numerous publications and anthologies, including Wide Awake Poets and Leimert Park Redux.

Victori Lynne McCoy holds an MFA in poetry from Sarah Lawrence College. Her work has appeared in Best New Poets, Blackbird, Cultural Weekly, The Offing, and Tahoma Literary Review, among others.

Ruthie Marlenee earned a Writers Certificate “With Distinction” from UCLA, and her second novel, Curse of the Ninth was launched in February 2020 by WiDo Publishers. It is a literary fiction with a psychological twist, takes place in historical Hollywood and Glendale. She is now working on a sequel.

Surprise guests will also appear in an Open Reading. Spots are on a first come basis and the waiting room will open at 7:30 for sign-ups. Limited attendance, so register early at :

East of the East: The Making of Greater El Monte, Vroman’s Crowdcast Event

East of the East: The Making of Greater El Monte, is an edited collection of 31 essays that trace the experience of a California community over three centuries, from colonization to globalization.

Featured authors include:

Romeo Guzman is co-director off the South El Monte Arts Posse and an assistant professor at Fresno State. He is co-editor at Boom California.

Carribean Fragoza is a journalist, fiction writer, and artist from South El Monte. She is founder of South El Monte Arts Posse and coeditor at Boom. Her short story collection is forthcoming with City Lights Publishers.

Wendy Cheng is an associate professor of American studies at Scripps College. She is the author of The Changs Next Door to the Diazes: Remapping Race in Suburban California and co-author of A People’s Guide to Los Angeles.

Michael Jaime-Becerra grew up in El Monte, received his MFA from UC Irvine, and currently teaches creative writing at UC Riverside. His short story collection, Every Night Is Ladies Night, received numerous awards.

Jenara Nerenberg & Divergent Mind at Book Soup Crowdcast Online

Author Jenera Nerenberg, will discuss her new book, Divergent Mind: Thriving in a World That Wasn’t Meant for You.

The author was shocked to discover that her anxiety “symptoms” were considered autistic and ADHD. Being a journalist, she doe into the research and discovered neurodiversity—a framework that moves away from pathologizing “abnormal” vs, “normal” brains and instead recognizes the vast diversity of our mental makeups.
