The award will now be called the Stories Award for Poetry. The winner gets a cash prize of $1,000 and a publishing deal with Not A Cult.
Not A Cult is a local L.A. publishing house founded three years ago. They work with writers who are at the forefront of their communities, championing their cultural heritage and challenging societal structures.
Stories Books & Cafe is a bookstore and cafe based in Echo Park. It hosts many author readings and other literary events. It’s open Monday – Thursday, 8am – 11pm and Friday and Saturday, 8am – 12am.
The 2019 Stories Award for Poetry will open for submissions on August 1, 2019. Plus, congratulations to this years winner Sheila Sadr for her manuscript Birthday Girl, to be published in 2020.
Congratulations on this amazing partnership.
