Exciting publication news coming out of the Los Angeles Literary community. Happy to announce that Erika Ayón’s first collection of poetry will be published by L.A. based World Stage Press in 2018!
Erika Ayón emigrated from Mexico when she was five years old and grew up in South Central, Los Angeles. She attended UCLA and graduated with a B.A. in English. In 2009 she was selected as a PEN Emerging Voices Fellow. In 2014 her poem “Hibiscus Skies,” was selected as a top ten poem from the Poetry in the Windows VI project sponsored by the Arroyo Arts Collective.
In 2014, L.A. writers Conney Williams and Hiram Sims formed World Stage Press, which is a home for the creation and proliferation of African American Literature. This press is associated with the World Stage, an educational and performance art space, and it’s weekly The Anansi Writers Workshop, located in Leimert Park, Los Angeles, California.
